About Me

close2art: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; I didn’t have art in High School, it wasn’t offered. I went to college for accounting in 1993 and took a couple art classes. Unfortunately I wasn’t taking school seriously and dropped out after a short time. I’ve spent the last 27 years forming my style and teaching myself thru trial and error. Some of my major influences have been Picasso, Basquiat and local artist George Hunt. I have expanded more into mixed media these days. Stylized features along with bright vivid color combinations is my main focus in each piece of artwork. My painting technique is one that I have developed over years of experimenting with all types of paints. I take pride in all my art and I am very critical of my work, like most artists are. Art has the power to evoke strong feelings, both positive and negative. The fact that you feel these emotions is what makes it art in the first place. My intention is to create fun images that are a pleasure to view. Thank you for your interest in my artwork All Rights Reserved RobGonzoArt 2020

The quote for now is:

People say that what we're all seeking is a meaning for life. I don't think that's what we're really seeking. I think what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive....Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth.

I'd like to know what you think about my artwork. I want to hear the good and the bad and the ugly if possible. I move forward with each critique and grow as an artist from your feedback. Be a part of my artistic process and get involved, what's your opinion? Thanks so much for your help and feel free to come back anytime and leave a comment...
