Don't Cry Over Spilled INK ~ I wish it had been milk, LOL

This little piece cost me a lot to make not because of the size or anything like that, more because of the two ounces of 'buff proof ink' that spilled out of my mop and all over my couch and tan living room carpet. So I've was up from midnight to about five this morning scrubbing carpets and without any success trying to buff out my couch(ruined it). I pulled this ink drenched 300g sheep of paper back out of the trash and decided that it wasn't going to waste after all the damage it was involved in. I didn't check the top of the mop before I went to use it and the nib was in the cap, splash, a simple overlooked thing caused a mess. We just paid off that couch after six years of paying on it and wait a minute....I almost forgot what I learned... So needless to say I couldn't save either the couch or carpet so I decided something positive had to come out of this mess of painting and I put the exact words I was feeling at the time...SPILT MILK....so that's how this piece was made, sometimes there's more than just what you see, there's the history behind it. In this case about four thousand dollars worth of damage, I'm going to have to sell a $hit load of prints to make back my investment in this one. I was told once to try and at least sell your art for at least three times what you have invested in it...Good Times ;)...RWJR

small roles, so a small picture but BIG FUN, just thinking back on some of my bliss moments, this was in 2004 during the shooting of, Walk The Line. I was the stand in for Larry Bagby, a pedestrian, stage hand, and seen here as a Sheriff, lol. two months watching these two actors work and the rest of the crew was really a treat. Funny story, Reese was in a movie with Kiefer Sutherland titled, Freeway. In the movie Sutherland's character's name is Robert Wolverton, and he plays a not so nice guy. Made for a fun conversation....RWJR

I Won't Forget

I wanted to take a moment to share with you the story about this fish titled, Follow Your Own Light, it's story is one I will not forget.

I listed the fish on ebay and it was won by an ebayer. Soon after, I received an email about a little boy who was very upset that he didn't win the fish for his room. It warmed my heart to know that my fish was so adored by him and his mother, not to mention the fact that he was going to decorate his room around the piece. After a couple very nice emails with his mother, she commissioned me to recreate the fish so he could have his own piece( with a little something hidden that only he will know about) and it will be his special fish for him ;)

A couple days after I shipped out the fish that was won on ebay, I received an email from the gentleman who won the piece. The following is the email he sent to me:

Dear close2art,
"Hi. I got the fish in good order.I really like it , as do my sons. My wife literally died in my arms here at home yesterday (cancer). After things settled down i opened my mail and there was the fish telling me to follow my own light. So, everyday now I will see it and it will remind me that life is short and i should follow my heart and do whatevr i want.Thanks for the fish. I'm glad to have it." Don

This is one fish I will never forget, it has helped light the way for inspiration and I hope it will do the same for you...RWJR
