About Me

close2art: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; I didn’t have art in High School, it wasn’t offered. I went to college for accounting in 1993 and took a couple art classes. Unfortunately I wasn’t taking school seriously and dropped out after a short time. I’ve spent the last 27 years forming my style and teaching myself thru trial and error. Some of my major influences have been Picasso, Basquiat and local artist George Hunt. I have expanded more into mixed media these days. Stylized features along with bright vivid color combinations is my main focus in each piece of artwork. My painting technique is one that I have developed over years of experimenting with all types of paints. I take pride in all my art and I am very critical of my work, like most artists are. Art has the power to evoke strong feelings, both positive and negative. The fact that you feel these emotions is what makes it art in the first place.
