Proud Parent

I am excited to say that our son was awarded second place in a visual arts contest for the K - 3rd grade part of his school . The theme was beauty and his composition consisted of a rainbow, a sun and his mother. First and second place go on to the second level with the other schools... I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and he said, "I want to build robots and machines." Art or robots it doesn't matter, both involve imagination and construction. Plus having a robot would be pretty cool, way to go son, high five:).....rwjr

HUMBLE KING

From Ghetto To Graceland
16" x 20"
Mixed Media on Canvas
Elvis came from poverty, from living in the Ghetto to living in his dream home at Graceland. He went from cochroaches to gold toothbrushes and it's his determination and passion for music that guided him in the right path. While living in the housing projects Elvis joined the church choir and later won at a talent show at school to win $5 and all rides free at the fair. The next year after he won the fair contest his uncle bought him a guitar and the rest is history. There is an old Buddhist saying, if you are going in the right direction all you have to do is walk.....................................................................................:)

DiSTURBiNG THE PEACE

~ Disturbing the Peace ~
24" x 30" Mixed Media
Disturbing the peace is a phrase that I often think about in these times. This could be a simple robbery or this could be an internal struggle created from a confrontation......from road rage to corporate a$$hole$, we struggle in life with disturbing the peace, or at least I do almost daily. When your environment becomes a struggle to survive in, what then? When there's not much peace around what is really being disturbed? We have to think positive and be courteous to our fellow man and bring the vibe to a state of zen, then when you snap it could be considered disturbing the peace. We've got a long way to go to reach peace and zen is even further away, but it is possible. So let's all try to keep calm and be courteous to each other, let's try to reach zen together.
