Lil' funky folk fish are back

It's been a while since I've painted any of my signature Funky Folk Fish so I used up some scrap 1x4's and created a groovy school.

This piece was inspired by the rock-n-roll legends that sprung out in the 1950's in Memphis and the inspiration for the movement of Rockabilly to Psychobilly. Although I received offers on the piece I decided to do what was best and donate it to the WKNO Fine Art Auction, which is the PBS public broadcast station for Memphis. I can't imagine growing up without PBS and have helped out by donating pieces for the past three years now. I plan to continue the tradition each and every year to make sure I do my part in our children's early development. I'm really happy to see Chevy Chase back on television after a long break. That last disaster, The Chevy Chase Show didn't live up to expectations. But now I think the radiant star is back with his genius in the new hit t.v. show Community. Chevy is one of my favorite all time actors/comedians and this scene from, Seems Like Old Times, makes me laugh everytime I just think about it. Keep it up Chevy and Chase Bank will continue to happen.. RWJR

Getting Well

I'm happy to say that there was no cancer found in any of the nodules. They did have to remove my left thyroid gland and three nodules, one the size of a golf ball, a grape and on the right thyroid a small one. The bandaid is covering the hole where the drain tube was below the cut. I'm already back home and ready to start painting. Thank all of you who wished me luck and said a prayer, it helped and I truly appreciate it....RWJR

Well I've got about ten more hours before my thyroid surgery. I'm just ready to get it over with. I hope there's no cancer but if so the treatment isn't as bad as most other types of cancer and I'll be back in the studio in no time. I'll have my drawing pad at the hospital and plan on doing some post operation artwork. I might not remember making it but we'll see how it turns out...RWJR

This commissioned piece is very special to me. I got to meet Taylor and we got some nice photos that day. Taylor had cancer and only made it a couple months after the photos were taken. He was at the office though with the owner everyday so that they could enjoy every minute with him. Taylor was a good old boy, and he will be missed by many.
